![]() There is a sexual nature to some of the scenes so do take that into account. On the way you meet people, discover the civilizations (Hanza, Reich, The Order) and have a great time. Intense radiation plagues the streets, which has caused mutation in many species turning them violent, untamable and monstrous. ![]() Essentially you, Artyom, wipe out the Dark Ones with a plethora of nuclear bombs - or so you thought. I won't go into detail as I don't want to ruin the story for anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of experiencing the Metro games. The Metro is very atmospheric and immersive thanks to the excellent graphics, the slow paced solo guitar music and the excellent plot. Who needs a sniper rifle when you can find a revolver and add an IR sight and a stock even a suppressor for stealth fanatics. There is a small selection of weapons, which was surprising, but the customization compensates for that. As a first person shooter, the gunplay has to be perfect if the developers wish for success, they have got it right. The story takes place in post-apocalyptic Moscow, mostly inside the metro system, but occasionally missions bring you above ground. Just like the original game Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light is played from the perspective of Artyom, your player character. ![]() This attention to detail creates an immersive and atmospheric game. Though entering the mission often made my frames drop, the attention to detail is phenomenal, every part of the Metro has been carefully engineered with precision to create the look of a worn and dying civilization. On my GTX 970 I had the game maxed out with a high framerate, well the majority of the time. If you have heard of this game, which you probably have, it is not unknown that this game is visually outstanding. Last Light is a game I believe everyone should try. Though they’re based off the popular post apocalyptic fiction book by Dmitri Glukhovsky, Metro Last Light does not follow the story line in the book, instead it is a direct sequel to Metro 2033 (the game and book). ![]() RadeonPro sucks balls. The 'Metro' games are excellent. I normally have HT off, but I'd enabled it recently to do some video encoding.īTW, I also tried making a profile in RadeonPro to set flip queue to 1, but when I tried launching the game with that profile from RP, the game wouldn't even play. It looks like I'm not even getting texture flickering anymore. Tried turning off HyperThreading (i7 950) and it literally stopped all my stuttering. With 2033 Redux though it's clearly a poor coding job by 4A. It's AMD's fault it was made in the first place though, they don't have very good software support. I might try adjusting flip queue, but I really hate RadeonPro. That way you only temporarily disable those cores just for that particular game while it's playing. It was common when quad CPUs first came out on games that were still dual threaded, but it was typically done via setting CPU Affinity in Task Manager. I don't see CPU core disabling as an acceptable option. There are two threads on the Steam forum complaining of this on 2033 Redux, including even people on high end Nvidia GPUs. I never got stuttering in original 2033 or Last Light, but I get a lot of small mostly audio stutters in 2033 Redux, mainly when the enemy AI become active, but also in other places. This way you can use V-sync comfortably and don't have to use any of that framerate limiter crap. If you are using AMD card download Radeon Pro and change the falue of "flip queue size" to 1. I did see some people on the net posting "official" bullshit about the game only using 2 cores, but as I read more I found these idiots either ran their tests in GPU-limited scenarios or in some very limited amount of areas of the game where 4 cores aren't utilized.Įdit: There's also some microstutter/judder in the game (yes, on a single GPU), to fix this just go to your Nvidia CP and change the value "Maximum Pre-rendered frames" to 1. The only downside to this is that you WILL get regular framerate drops in many areas, this is because the game does use 4 cores. This cleared up the frequent stutters, but the more pronounced stutters that happen more rarely are still there (they're not as annoying as the shorter but more frequent stutters though). If you are using a quad core processor, just go into BIOS and disable 2 cores (of course undo this after you finish the game). (No, this is not turn off DEP or any other bullshit fixes you read on the net) Concerning the constant intermittent stutters/hitches that happen every 2~5 seconds:
